H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, has affirmed that by sponsoring and hosting global exhibitions and conferences, the Emirates Identity Authority aims at streamlining and highlighting its role in familiarizing the UAE society, whether individuals or corporate bodies, with the ID identification systems and the relevant advanced technologies and also benefiting from the successful practices in other countries.

This was announced during his inaugural speech to the Digital ID World Middle East 2011 Conference, which kicked off today (Tuesday) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, in the presence of H.E. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Chairman of Executive Committee and Emirates Identity Authority Board Member.

Al Khouri added: “We feel proud that this global event is honored by the sponsorship of HH Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Emirates Identity Authority, considering that this sublime sponsorship will help this global event develop a distinguished reputation and gain an added value.”

He clarified that hosting this event, in which more than 100 international companies involved in this field as well as researchers and specialists are participating, comes in embodiment of one of the most important themes of the Emirates Identity Authority’s strategy related to contributing to creating and supporting knowledge-based communities and boosting the digital ID culture while highlighting its importance, role and future prospects through such global forums and events.

Al Khouri emphasized that these global forums are an ideal opportunity for exchanging experiences, particularly that this event would include 60 specialized scientific seminars and many scientific working papers demonstrating successful experiences and throwing the light on the best modern practices in the world of digital ID systems.

Al Khouri expressed his hope that the participating working papers would contribute to spreading awareness regarding the application of advanced ID systems and the world of digital ID and also helping the officials at both the government and private sectors grasp the uses of these methods and systems.

He called for developing effective strategies for implementing the initiatives and projects related to developing the services provided for the public, particularly in the public sector, this being the sublime objective “we as government organizations are trying to achieve in a bid for technology to be harnessed to serve man.”

The inauguration ceremony was attended by H.E. Rashid Khamis Al Suwaidi, Director General of the National Centre for Statistics, H.E. Thani Al Zafein, Director General and Board Member of Emaratech, and Eng. Yahya Bin Musa al Maymani, head of the Omani delegation participating in the conference.
