A delegation from the Emirates Identity Authority has visited the factory of Bundesdruckerei GmbH and its research centers and laboratories in the German capital Berlin. There, the delegation members were familiarized with all the stages of producing and issuing the German ID card as well as its various security characteristics and technological specifications.
The delegation members also visited an ID card registration center in Berlin where they were briefed on the adopted procedures and closely examined the best practices in this connection.
The visit comes as part of ongoing endeavor by the Emirates Identity Authority’s Higher Management to be acquainted with the latest technological and industrial developments in the field of ID cards. It also comes as part of the Emirates Identity Authority’s future plan aimed at developing the next generation of ID cards issued to the UAE population.

Security Printing LLC, which is the government and local partner of Bundesdruckerei GmbH in the UAE responsible for issuing UAE ePassport, is aimed for the delegation to be familiar with the German company’s experience in manufacturing, printing and issuing the German ID card, this being the most advanced and secure ID card in Europe and the world for several considerations.
The state-owned Bundesdruckerei GmbH is one of the world’s major companies in the field of digital ID and security printing industry and technology. It manufactures and issues ePassports and ID cards for a number of countries of the world.
The Emirates Identity Authority’s delegation included Abdullah Al Kindi, Operations Director, Walaa Al Amin, IT and Business Development Advisor, and Shukri Al Buraiki, Creativity and Development Director.
