The Emirates Identity Authority has underlined the necessity for customers to pick up their ID cards from the Emirates Post centers within 30 days from the day they receive notifications to this effect via SMS to their mobile phones so as to avoid any possible damage to their cards and consequent loss of the paid fees.

The Emirates Identity Authority pointed out that it is offering customers the possibility to track the status of their applications for new, renewed or replacement cards by inputting the application number or previous ID card number through the Emirates Identity Authority’s website www.emiratesid.ae.

Meanwhile, the statistics issued by the Emirates Identity Authority showed that 79.2 per cent of its customers, who filled out their e-forms at the typing centers, preferred to receive their ID cards through the “PO Box” service. This compared to 20.8 per cent of the customers who preferred to receive their ID cards through an Emirates Post center. The statistics covered the period between September 13 when the service was launched and November 13.

The Emirates Identity Authority said the launch of the service of ID card delivery through post office boxes nearly 2 months ago contributed to speeding up the delivery of ID cards to their owners and reducing the period taken by the ID card owners to receive their ID cards from nearly 90 days to around 19 days.

According to the Emirates ID’s statistics, 43 per cent of the customers picked up their ID cards 2 days after they had been notified accordingly. This compared to 20 per cent of the customers who picked up their ID cards after 4 days, 16.5 per cent within 7 days and 5 per cent within 14 days, while 16 per cent of the customers picked up their ID cards only after the elapse of more than 14 days from the date they were notified accordingly.

The Emirates Identity Authority added that it had offered two ways for delivery of ID cards to their owners after the first registration procedures had been completed; the first through the PO box given by the customer when filling out the registration form at the typing center and the second through one of the Emirates Post centers across the UAE as specified by the customer when filling out the registration form. The Emirates Identity Authority noted that this was part of its efforts aimed at developing its service system and upgrading its services so that the best service would be provided to applicants and customers in the easiest way possible.

The Emirates Identity Authority clarified that a customer should call its contact center within 30 days from the date of completion of registration procedures as the customer’s telephone might have been incorrectly inputted in his/her registration form.
