The Emirates Identity Authority announced that customers can apply online for exemption from delay fines when issuing or renewing the identity cards in a timely manner via its website, provided that the applicant fulfills any of the exemption conditions.

EIDA explained in a press release published by Al Khaleej Newspaper in today’s issue, that customers can apply for exemption through an “electronic form” provided through its website, where the customer fills in the username and password in case he was previously registered in the electronic form system, or creates a new account if he was not registered, by filling in the name and e-mail boxes, which represent the username, and the mobile number, then choosing the language.

EIDA said that after the access to the electronic form system, the user shall complete filling in the required data in the form through a number of steps, whether in case or registration or renewal. The last step is for the payment of fees, where the value of fines due are showed with two options either payment and completion of the application or application for exemption from fines.

EIDA added that when the user chooses the option of applying for exemption from fines, the electronic system allows him to download the documents supporting his application or to submit the said documents to a service center, then pressing “send” so his request is transferred to the competent unit at EIDA. The user then receives a text message that includes his application number and informs him that he will be informed of the next step within 48 hours.

EIDA explained that the user receives a message confirming that his request is accepted and that he shall complete the procedures of payment of regular fees, either through the electronic form or through a certified typing office, or that his request is refused and that he shall pay the fines and complete the procedures, or requesting him to visit the nearest service center to complete the documents required.

EIDA noted that the user can check the cases covered by the exemption from delay fines, and the documents required to take advantage of this service through the Services link on the home page of its website, sub-link “e-services”, then selecting the service to apply for exemption from fines.
