H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, has announced that the Digital ID World Middle East 2011 will kick off at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Hall No. 5) at 9am on Tuesday, May 17, 2001. The event will continue for 2 days.
Welcoming the mass media representatives, Al Khouri delivered a speech during a dedicated press conference in which he said:
“Allow me first to warmly welcome you to this press conference and to seize this opportunity to greet you, brothers and sisters, and thank you sincerely for your kind and fruitful efforts and your prominent role in providing all forms of media support for the Emirates Identity Authority through the printed, visual and audible mass media.”
He added: “I am pleased to announce to you that the UAE is hosting the Digital ID World Middle East 2011 conference and exhibition, the largest event of its kind, on May 17 and 18, 2011, God willing. The event is hosted by the capital Abu Dhabi for the first time and is organized by and held under the sponsorship of the Emirates Identity Authority.”

Al Khouri clarified that hosting this event, in which more than 100 international companies as well as researchers and specialists are participating, comes in embodiment of one of the most important themes of the Emirates Identity Authority’s strategy related to contributing to creating and supporting knowledge-based communities and boosting the digital ID culture while highlighting its importance, role and future prospects through such global forums and events.
He stated that this significant event would witness around 60 specialized scientific seminars and working papers demonstrating the successful experiences and the best modern practices in the world of digital ID systems. It would also witness more than 100 specialist exhibitors from all over the world who would meet in Abu Dhabi for two days to showcase the latest electronic payment methods, he added.
Al Khouri pointed out that there would be an opportunity for creating unique channels of communication with the smart card industry leaders, particularly with the participation of more than 2,000 specialists from banks, government entities, retailers and telecommunication companies from all over the world.
At the end of the conference, Al Khouri answered the questions posed by the journalists and mass media representatives which dealt with a number of issues related to this event.
