Board of “Foreigners and Ports” discusses ICA’s preparations for implementing the Decrees of the Cabinet

The Executive Affairs Board of the Directorate General of Foreigners Affairs and Ports at ICA reviewed ICA’s preparations to implement the recent Decrees of the Cabinet regarding the adoption of a new legislative package to review the current residency system to make it easier for those wishing to stay in the state and job seekers and granting a grace period for illegal residents who are residing in the State to settle their status or to leave voluntarily, to extend the residency of a widow or divorced women and to grant one-year residency to nationals of States in conflict and disaster.

The Board discussed the policies and procedures for each Decree and the dates on which it will be implemented. First of all, the “Protect Yourself by Changing Your Status” initiative, which will come into effect from the beginning of August 2018 for three months, which will allow the violators to leave the country without any fees and exempt them from penalties and enable them to change their status with simple fees, as well as payment of the absconding from sponsor report against him and allow to leave without the ban seal, and allow persons who have been able to enter the country through an unofficial port to leave the country and banning them from entry for two years, as well as allowing the transfer of residency for those wishing to change their status without fines and simple fees.

The Board reviewed the plan of the technical, administrative, and operational preparation for the implementation of the initiative and the responsibilities of the participating entities in the implementation, roles assigned to each of them, the centers and sites, and its readiness to receive the violators and end their procedures.

This came during the second meeting of the Board in 2018, which was held at the headquarters of the Directorate in Abu Dhabi and headed by Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al-Rashdi, Acting Director-General of Foreign Affairs and Ports in the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship in the presence of the executive directors of residency and foreign affairs in the State.

The Board discussed the phenomenon of beggars and its relation to tourism companies and discussed the mechanisms necessary to implement the Decree to grant nationals of countries of war and disasters to stay for one year regardless of the conditions of residency and policies and procedures governing such Decree.

The Board discussed the proposed procedures that govern the implementation of the Cabinet’s Decree to allow visitors to benefit from a new visit permit after the end of the visit entry permit and without having to leave the country.

The Board reviewed the activities files of the participants in MOHAMMED BIN RASHID GOVERNMENT EXCELLENCE AWARD (4th Generation), mechanisms of complaints system, strategic suggestions for customers, quality system program, management processes applied at the level of ICA, and the system of suggestions.
