The First Ramadan Tournament’s Football Sevens, which is organized by the Emirates Identity Authority, kicked off at the Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi yesterday (Wednesday).
A high spirit of sportsmanship and a fierce competition prevailed in the first day matches, which were attended by a large number of the Emirates Identity Authority’s employees and the players’ friends and colleagues.
The first day matches saw a dazzling surprise with Al Qada (Leaders) pounding the Real Madrid 5-2 while Manchester City hit back by defeating its neighbor and intimate rival Manchester United 5-3.
At the end of the two matches, the players of the winning teams exchanged greetings while those of the losing ones vowed to play better in the coming matches and determined to intensify physical fitness exercises and have more training in the skills of kicking the ball through the goal from outside the penalty area.
It is noteworthy that this initiative comes as part of the Emirates Identity Authority’s keenness on strengthening fraternity and friendship relations among all its employees, making them happy and allowing them the opportunity for humanitarian, social and sports communication beyond the official working hours.
