Ajman Executive Council and Emirates Identity Authority have signed a partnership agreement for the ID card to be adopted as a primary personal identification document for those working at Ajman government and non-government departments and their customers.

The agreement was signed for Ajman Executive Council by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Deputy Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, and for Emirates Identity Authority by H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, at Ajman Executive Council General Secretariat. The signing ceremony was attended by a number of officials from both sides.

The agreement stipulates that both sides will co-operate for enhancing co-ordination for the ID card to be adopted in all uses related to government applications by urging Ajman-based entities, corporations and companies to instruct their employees to abide by the population register and ID card law.

In a statement marking the event, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Deputy Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, said: “The agreement was signed based on keenness of HH Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, on improving and developing government performance in line with the UAE strategic plan and the developments witnessed by the other governments as regards ways to improve their performance and seek fruitful co-operation among the various local and federal departments as this is in the interest of the UAE and UAE nationals.”

Praising the Emirates Identity Authority’s efforts for serving UAE nationals and residents, Al Nuaimi clarified that the agreement comes as part of Ajman Executive Council’s keenness on ensuring continuous administrative and technological development in the emirate as well as its interest in benefiting from the advanced electronic features of the smart ID card issued by the Emirates Identity Authority.

The agreement is aimed at achieving the strategic objectives of government entities and supporting the combined efforts exerted by all the ministries, federal authorities and organizations and local governments for expanding fields of mutual co-operation and serving the country’s interests.

Meanwhile, H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, said: “Signing the partnership agreement with Ajman Executive Council is based on the keenness of both sides on developing the shared programs and exchanging experiences and information as regards the advanced identity applications for identifying and authenticating individual identities, which play a key role in achieving progress and upgrading social services. The agreement is also based on the interest of both parties in improving their services in line with their objectives, which are part of top national goals.”

Al Khouri clarified that the Emirates Identity Authority would provide the support required for activating the ID card applications, enabling Ajman Executive Council to explore the advanced capabilities of the ID card and adopt it as a secure document for identifying identities.

Under the agreement, the Emirates Identity Authority will provide smart card readers to Ajman government departments and organizations and will conduct regular maintenance for these readers. This will allow the data of the ID card to be read electronically from the ID card electronic chip and will enable employees to read the ID card data electronically in a direct and fast manner.

Ajman Executive Council will instruct the entities concerned to notify the Emirates Identity Authority of any change or modification in the data or civil incidents related to these entities and any updating of its internal procedures. The Emirates Identity Authority, on the other hand, will provide the technical support necessary for Ajman Executive Council to fulfill its obligations and seek electronic mechanisms for easing the exchange and updating of the data determined by Ajman Executive Council as well as providing a sufficient number of smart card readers and conducting the necessary regular maintenance for them.

The ID card issued by the Emirates Identity Authority is a smart card featuring an electronic chip with advanced security specifications. It stores the individual data and civil incidents of its holder in a secure electronic manner inside the electronic chip, enabling its holder to introduce himself/herself in a certified electronic manner to the government and non-government entities he/she is dealing with. The card enables these entities to gain direct access to the individual data and civil incidents related to the card holder through reading the ID card electronically using smart card readers.
