A survey conducted by ICA showed that 79.7% of the respondents of the survey do not know the password of their ID cards, and 20.3% know about that password. The total number of respondents of the survey conducted by ICA vis its website is 35.613 respondents, among which only 7229 knew their own ID card password.
In a press release published in Emarat Al Youm Newspaper in today’s issue, ICA emphasized that the ID card holder shall incur the responsibility for protecting this password, illustrating that the password enclosed with the ID card is deemed a means to protect the personal transactions completed through the ID card. Besides, the password is considered one of the means that enable the card holder to access several e-services provided by various entities.
ICA further explained that the password, composed of four fields, is connected to the e-identity, and provide protection and confidentiality to the card. Upon completion of registration (fingerprinting and photographing), customers may choose a password at any of ICA’s customer happiness centers. It underscored the need to take care and due diligence when using passwords, as entering a wrong password for three consecutive times, causes its deactivation. However, it can be reactivated through the nearest customer happiness center or any electronic kiosks annexed to ICA.
