His Excellency Ali Mohammed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, inaugurated the activities of the UAE Innovation Month at the Authority’s Head Office in Abu Dhabi, in presence of His Excellency Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Acting Director General of the Authority, General and Executive Directors, and a number of managers.
In his speech on this occasion, Al Shamsi stressed that the insightful leadership has instilled strategic concepts within the administrative and institutional work system, and has set the necessary frameworks for us to adopt innovation as a sustainable culture that enhances ambition towards government entrepreneurship and adopts various concepts of institutional excellence.
His Excellency added that innovation activities are in harmony with the foundations of preparing for the future, and are even part of planning towards achieving national goals through bridges of innovation and overcoming the impossible, stressing that the fruits of instilling this culture push towards enabling institutions to interact with the developments that the world is witnessing today, especially in the field of technologies and artificial intelligence and the aftermath of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and various future transformations in the next years.
In the presence of the Authority’s leaders, Al Shamsi was briefed on a professional presentation by the Security Inspection Unit of the General Administration of Customs, during which he was acquainted with a series of innovative services provided by the customs sector in the authority at the country’s ports. His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, Acting Director General of Customs, presented the “Ras Cargo” project, for the advanced detection of drugs and explosives by the K-9 unit, which supports the security and control system according to technological foundations that enhance detection rates, as well as access to the smart inspection vehicle enhanced with advanced technical capabilities.
In addition, His Excellency the Chairman of the Authority, during a tour of the Innovation Exhibition, accompanied by His Excellency the Director General of the Authority, general managers and various leaders and managers, was briefed about a series of innovative projects developed by the Authority and future solutions that take innovation as an approach to performance and service provision, such as using RPA technology to complete entry permits transactions quickly and efficiently by simulating human intelligence with the machine, the Dubai Electronic Document System, the comprehensive digital encyclopedia for all types of travel documents, in addition to the digital certification service project using the face print.
