H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, has affirmed that the increasing rise in number of registrants to 2 million in a year represents a quantum leap and a challenge at the same time and motivates us to double our efforts to “bring production line under control” and “serve customers” beginning from registration stage and ending with delivery of cards to owners as part of our ongoing efforts to upgrade our services and achieve the objectives of the registration plan as per the set timeline.

During the 41st regular meeting of the Higher Management Committee, which was held at the main building of the Emirates Identity Authority yesterday (Monday) and attended by executive directors and a number of managers, Al Khouri instructed that efforts should be doubled to face the challenge of delivering ID cards to owners as soon as possible.

He praised the diligent efforts exerted by the Emirates Post Corporation and the positive results it achieved as embodied in its success in distributing 45,000 ID cards per week and its having already delivered more than 500,000 ID cards over the past 20 weeks, which shows that the Emirates Identity Authority is on its way to reach radical solutions to the problem of delay in delivering ID cards to their owners.

The Emirates Identity Authority expects the number of distributed ID cards to rise to 100,000 per week in the upcoming period after the Emirates Identity Authority, in co-ordination with the Emirates Post Corporation, has approved a number of solutions and initiatives, including the inclusion of customer’s post office box in the e-form as per his/her emirate and area of residence.

Meanwhile, the Higher Management Committee at the Emirates Identity Authority approved cancelling of around 5000 transactions for customers who filled their e-forms at the typing offices but did not abide by the first appointment set for them to complete their registration process and were late for more than two weeks from the second appointment which the Emirates Identity Authority gave to them to complete their registration in the ID card and population register.

The committee reiterated its call for all applicants and customers to adhere to the dates sent by the Emirates Identity Authority to them to complete their registration process, stressing the necessity for them to come to the registration center on the day and at the time given to finalize the last stage of their registration which includes fingerprinting and photographing.

It also highlighted its keenness on taking all the steps that would ensure the provision of qualitative and excellent services to applicants and customers at the 1000-plus typing offices across the country that provide the service of filling out e-forms as a first step for registering for ID cards.

Later, the committee listened to the consultative company’s report on projects under construction and others under development, noting that work was completed in the new Sharjah Registration Center, which is expected to be operated in the coming three months. It noted that work was completed in the interior re-design project for the permanent registration centers in Dubai and Northern Emirates.

The committee also listened to a presentation made by the Population Register Department about a number of agenda items and approved adoption of the complaint and file migration methodologies.
