The General Administration of Customs holds the second meeting of directors general of customs for the year 2022

The General Administration of Customs at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security held the second meeting of the general directors of customs in the UAE for the year 2022.
During the meeting, participants discussed developments in customs projects and ways to enhance cooperation with strategic partners such as ministries and federal and local entities, in order to facilitate trade exchange and support the business sector in the country.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, Director General of Customs at the Authority, and was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Port and Customs Department, Rashid Lahej Al Mansouri, Director General of the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs, Ahmed Mahboub Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs, and Mohammed Mir Abdulrahman Al Sarrah, Director of Ports and Customs at the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Mahrezi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Customs, Rashid Saif Hammad, Director General of Fujairah Customs, and Sultan Al Ali, Executive Director of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in Umm Al Quwain.
The meeting was also attended by Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, Abdullah Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Commercial Processing Sector at the Ministry of Economy, Alia Mohammed Al Marmoom, Executive Director of the Customs Affairs Sector, and many heads of departments at the General Administration of Customs.
The participants in the meeting agreed to enhance cooperation in many fields and provide the required support for projects that aim to develop customs work in the country, and form joint technical working teams between the Federal Tax Authority and the customs sector, to enhance joint cooperation between the two parties, as well as the formation of a customs work team at the national level to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, to support the state’s efforts in this field and to strengthen customs control over the movement of trade and funds through customs ports.
His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej stressed the keenness of the General Administration of Customs at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, Port Security and local customs departments to provide all aspects of support for customs projects and continuous development processes in the customs sector in the country, with the aim of enabling it to achieve global leadership and enhance its ability to handle developments and changes in the flow of global trade and the removal of obstacles facing the flow of goods, merchandise and people.
His Excellency added that the General Administration of Customs and local customs departments are fully aware of the developments in the current stage of the global economy and its future repercussions, and believes that joint cooperation and coordination contribute significantly to developing performance and improving control and trade movement in customs ports, thus enhancing the country’s position on the map of trade and global competition through the implementation of projects and customs initiatives that improve the business environment in the UAE and raise its level of attractiveness.
The meeting dealt with many issues on the agenda of joint customs work in the country, most notably the results of the 29th meeting of the Gulf Customs Union, the developments of the project linking customs systems, the national system for tracking trucks and shipments electronically, comprehensive economic partnership agreements, cooperation agreements and mutual administrative assistance in issues of customs duties with countries around the world.
