Inspection Visits to UAE Border Crossings to Review Operations Following Recent Weather Conditions

H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Kuwaiti, Acting Director General of Ports at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), accompanied by H.E. Khalifa Hamad Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of the Land Ports Affairs Sector, conducted a series of inspection visits to Hili Border Crossing in Al Ain and Wum Border Crossing in the Emirate of Fujairah on Friday, 27 March 2026, and Thursday, 2 April 2026. The visits aimed to assess the progress of operations in the aftermath of the recent weather conditions experienced across the UAE, as part of ICP’s commitment to monitoring port readiness and ensuring the continuity and efficiency of operational processes under all circumstances.

During the visits, they reviewed the readiness of systems and procedures in place to ensure the smooth flow of travellers and vehicles, as well as the continuity of services in line with approved operational plans. They also assessed the level of coordination among entities operating at the border crossings, mechanisms for handling developments, and the speed of response to the impact of the weather conditions, ensuring the continued efficiency of operations.

The visits also included reviewing the effectiveness of operational systems and the preparedness of field teams, in addition to verifying the efficiency of the implemented procedures that support business continuity and maintain service quality

They also commended the efforts and dedication of personnel working at the border crossings during the exceptional weather conditions, praising their sense of responsibility, cooperation, and commitment, which contributed to maintaining smooth procedures and ensuring the safety of travellers.

These visits come as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the readiness of land border crossings and elevate operational efficiency, in line with the directives of UAE’s wise leadership to ensure the sustainability of services.
