ID World Abu Dhabi concludes in presence of over 400 people

The ID World Abu Dhabi Summit 2012 concluded in Abu Dhabi yesterday. The two-day summit was held at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research under the patronage of His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Emirates Identity Authority, and was endorsed by the European Commission.

The 5th edition of the summit this year saw over 60 specialized working papers presented with the participation and in the presence of over 400 people representing government entities, experts and people involved in the manufacture of smart ID cards and digital ID card identification systems. In addition, more than 20 world-reputed companies operating in this sector participated in the exhibition held on the sidelines of the summit.

The participants discussed a number of topics related to the challenges facing the authorities and organizations involved in advanced ID projects all over the world. They also reviewed the latest practices and protection and security systems used in supporting the ID card and population register programs and their role in enhancing the security of societies and the identity of their citizens.

The working papers reviewed a number of advanced innovations that would enhance the ID card issuance mechanisms and procedures and the linkage of its services with the various government and private departments and organizations.

The summit included three major forums, these being the Citizen ID Forum, the Transportation Security Forum and the Asset Tracking Forum. The Summit also addressed several topics with regard to the future of Digital ID, wireless technology, healthcare technologies as well as PC and smart mobile applications.
