The GCC General Secretariat adopted a unified ID card reader program developed by the Bahraini Central Informatics Organization, Kingdom of Bahrain. The program enables the content of any ID card in the GCC countries to be read and displayed.
The program, developed by the Bahraini organization entrusted by the GCC steering ID card committee, is adopted as a unified reader of ID cards among the GCC countries. The unified reader was adopted pursuant to the decision issued by the GCC High Committee with regard to adoption of the ID card as proof of identity during mobility and travel.
The Emirates Identity Authority declared towards the end of last year the success of the actual use the Emirati smart ID cards via the unified system of the Gulf e-portals after being previously tested in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
