Filling out registration form precedes medical examination: Emirates ID

Monday 13 February 2012

The Emirates Identity Authority has affirmed that filling out a registration form precedes the medical examination required for residence issuance or renewal according to the ID card-residence linkage procedures, which the Emirates Identity Authority has activated all over the UAE except Dubai, in which linkage will be activated in April. The Emirates Identity Authority pointed out that an ID card would be delivered to its owner only after the owner’s residence had been issued by the competent authorities.

In reply to inquiries by the Emarat Al Youm newspaper on the registration steps after the linkage of ID card and residence is activated, the Emirates Identity Authority clarified that the first step starts with the applicant filling out the registration form, whether in an authorized typing center or through the Emirates Identity Authority’s website.

Subsequently, the applicant would head for a preventive medicine center – depending on the applicant’s residence – for medical examination, the Emirates Identity Authority said, adding that the applicant would finally go directly to the Emirates Identity Authority center attached to the preventive medicine center without prior appointment for completing registration procedures before following up the residence issuance or renewal procedures.

As for a first time applicant who has a valid residence, they should fill out the e-form and wait for an SMS on their mobiles showing the date and place of registration for completion of procedures.

The Emirates Identity Authority pointed out that a holder of an expired ID card should fill out a renewal form and present the old ID card at the typing center. They, however, might need to visit the registration center attached to the preventive medicine center when renewing the residence and the ID card for re-fingerprinting.

An ID card is delivered to its owner only after their residences have been issued by the competent authorities, the Emirates Identity Authority said, noting that the ID card starts to be printed immediately after the residence data have been issued by the Ministry of Interior.

The Emirates Identity Authority affirmed that the project of linking Residence issuance procedures with registration in population register and ID card has been completed across the UAE except for Dubai in which the linkage of ID card with residence is scheduled to be activated on April 1.

Registration in ID card has become a condition for the issuance and renewal of residence in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, the Emirates Identity Authority said, adding that this condition would be applicable in Dubai in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs by April 1.

As for how to obtain one appointment for all the family members in the same registration center, the Emirates Identity Authority clarified that a customer should request the employee at the typing center to bind all the transactions together so that the same time and place would be selected for the whole family. The Emirates Identity Authority explained that in case the form was modified in a typing center other than the one in which the application was submitted, the customer in question should pay extra AED5 as service fees.
