The Emirates Identity Authority has published a new research titled “The Role of Digital Certificates in Modern Government Systems – UAE Experience” in the International Journal of Computer Science, Engineering and Information Technology Research.
The research reviews the UAE’s experience in implementing an integrated strategic project for digital certificates through the public key infrastructure (PKI) system, which comes under the infrastructure projects that have been implemented by the Emirates Identity Authority since 2003.
The research gives an overview of the different government scenarios for the uses and applications of digital certificates, which provide advanced devices for confirming identities in electronic environments, thereby gaining a worldwide acclaim in both public and private sectors.
According to the research, there is a growing demand by many countries of the world for implementing eGovernment projects. Such demand is coupled with a great interest by the governments of these countries in supporting those projects and enabling them of meeting the requirements of identity management in the cyberspace and securing electronic transactions through the latest encryption technologies.
The researcher explores the vast technological prospects that the advanced applications of digital certificates contain, particularly in the digital ID, and their anticipated role in the transactions and services of the eGovernment and eCommerce.
