The Emirates Identity Authority has participated in the preparatory meetings for the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2012, scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, between May 14 and 18.
The Emirates Identity Authority will be part of the UAE delegation represented by the National Committee to follow up the implementation of recommendations from the World Summit on the Information Society. The delegation consists of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spider Educational Project and Department of Information and eGovernment in Sharjah.
Through its participation in this forum, the Emirates Identity Authority seeks to throw the light on the UAE’s leading position worldwide in view of the fact that the UAE is a regional hub and an international player in the technology and eTransformation sector. The forum will focus on the information and communication technology (ICT) revolution and the need to adopt a comprehensive universal vision in this connection.
During the meetings which the UAE will participate in, the forum will discuss the mechanism of achieving the objectives of the world summit, holding partnerships to measure the ICT role in development and evaluating what the world summit achieved for the information society.
