Al-Watan newspaper stressed its keenness to provide the Emirates ID with all sorts of media support in light of the paper’s faith in the strategic and vital role of the Emirates ID in supporting overall development projects in the state by developing and facilitating government services and providing the necessary data on population demographics and supporting policy makers and strategic planning.
H.E. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Shameeri, Editor-in-Chief and Director General of Al-Watan newspaper, lauded the mission of Emirates ID as embodied in contributing to the enhancement of national and individual security, the establishment of an accurate and comprehensive population register and the provision of advanced government eServices.
Al Shameeri also praised the Emirates ID’s strategic plan 2010-2013 and its projects and initiatives that started to crystalize at the level of enhancing the eTransformation in the state and providing a modern integrated eService system that is up to the high standard enjoyed by the UAE.
This came during Al Shameeri’s recent visit heading a group from Al-Watan to the Emirates ID headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The group was received by H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General.
Al Khouri outlined Emirates ID’s strategy at the beginning of the meeting. The two sides also discussed means of enhancing mutual co-operation to achieve welfare for the state and serve the interests of the two institutions over the coming period.
Al Khouri expressed the Emirates ID’s appreciation of Al-Watan’s initiative and its keenness on providing all sorts of media support to enhance its constructive efforts to complete the registration of the entire UAE population in the framework of its strategic plan 2010-2013. The accomplishment of this project will be the first step before linking the ID card as key element in the transactions and services provided by the public and private sector institutions as means of identification and verification of individuals as a requirement to obtain such services.
At the end of the meeting, Al Shameeri and Al Khouri exchanged token shields. It is noteworthy that Al-Watan newspaper was first published on October 13, 2011.
