Afghan delegation visits Emirates ID to be familiar with its experience and best practices

The Emirates Identity Authority has recently hosted in its headquarters in Abu Dhabi an official delegation from the Republic of Afghanistan. The delegation visited the Emirates Identity Authority to be familiar with the UAE experience in developing the population register system, implementing the ID card project and completing the infrastructure required for allowing the demographic data to be accessed and exchanged.

The visiting delegation, which included a number of officials from the Afghan Ministry of Communication and Technology headed by Mohammed Murjan, chairman of the Department of Technology Affairs at the ministry, discussed means of bolstering mutual co-operation with the Emirates Identity Authority and optimizing its experience and best practices.

Samia Al Sheikh, Acting Director of Planning at the Emirates Identity Authority, made a presentation about the Emirates Identity Authority’s strategic plan 2010-2013 and the most outstanding projects emanating from it. She underscored the Emirates Identity Authority’s keenness on strengthening relations with its counterparts all over the world and exchanging expertise and knowledge.

Later, the Afghan delegation visited the Emirates Identity Authority-affiliated Emirates Smart Card Factory in ICAD, Abu Dhabi, where it was briefed on how an ID card was printed and automatically packaged and how its quality was verified as per industrial criteria that matched the world’s highest specifications.

The delegation also visited the Sharjah Registration Center, where it was received by Ismael Fadlallah, Director of Dubai and Northern Emirates at the Emirates Identity Authority, who briefed it on the center’s various facilities and services as well as the mechanisms and procedures of registration in the population register and ID card system.

In addition, the Emirates Identity Authority explained the project of registering residents in the ID card through the registration centers attached to the preventive medicine centers across the UAE.

At the end of its visit, the delegation expressed its admiration of the Emirates Identity Authority’s strategic plan and the projects emanating from it, praising the designs of the registration centers and the standard of services provided by the Emirates Identity Authority to its customers.
