ICP Receives Official Ethiopian Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) received an official delegation from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on Monday, 10 November 2025. The delegation was headed by Dr. Zerihun Getaneh, Executive Colonel and Chair of the Steering Committee, accompanied by a number of specialists. The visit aimed to strengthen mutual cooperation, exchange expertise, and review best practices in customs systems and smart port operations in the United Arab Emirates. The delegation was welcomed by His Excellency Jumaa Abdullah Al Kaabi, Acting Executive Director of the Digital Transformation Sector, accompanied by His Excellency Hamad Saif Al Mashghouni, Acting Executive Director of the Air Ports Affairs Sector, along with several senior ICP officials.

The visit included a field tour of Zayed International Airport, during which the delegation was briefed on mechanisms for facilitating passenger movement and the integration of smart systems used in inspection and logistics services. The tour also featured a visit to the National Early Information Centre, where the delegation was introduced to the latest systems for cargo management, tracking, and pre-coordination procedures that enhance inspection efficiency and expedite customs clearance processes.

This visit comes as part of ICP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation and exchange expertise to support the development of the customs and port operations ecosystem in the UAE. The Ethiopian delegation expressed its appreciation for the warm welcome and excellent organization, praising the advanced level of the UAE’s port systems and the seamless integration between modern infrastructure and innovative technologies. Members of the delegation affirmed that the visit marks an important milestone in enhancing cooperation between the two friendly nations.
