Directors General of UAE Customs Discuss Facilitating Procedures Amid Current Circumstances

The Directors General of Customs in the United Arab Emirates held their first meeting of 2026 on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, via video conference, to discuss facilitating customs procedures at border crossings to ensure the smooth movement of travellers and goods amid the current exceptional conditions affecting the region and their resulting implications. The meeting also reviewed the efforts of specialised teams and committees within local customs departments, mechanisms for coordination among relevant entities, and explored ways to further streamline customs procedures and strengthen cooperation with companies and relevant stakeholders.

The meeting was chaired by H.E. Ahmed Abdulla Bin Lahej Al Falasi, Acting Director General of Customs and Port Security at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, and was attended by H.E. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director General of Ajman Port and Customs Department, and Rashid Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, Dr. Abdulla Mohamed Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs; Mohamed Meer Abdulrahman Al-Sarrah, Director of Ports and Customs at Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority; Dr. Rashed Rashed Al Mehrzi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Customs; and Hamid Mohammed Al Yamahi, Director General of the Fujairah Customs Department, in addition to a number of executives and managers of relevant departments in the General Directorate of Customs and Port Security of ICP.
