The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security applies the (Afshar) system, in its electronic and smart versions, to all passengers departing and arriving to and from the United Arab Emirates, allowing them to disclose, within a few minutes, their cash and similar negotiable financial instruments to bearers, precious metals and stones in case they exceed the maximum permissible limit of AED 60,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies.
Objective of the consultation:
The Authority is always keen to develop its systems and services and involve the public in their design by identifying the reactions of the target audiences and monitoring their opinions after trying the system or service and employing those opinions in developing those systems and services to meet the needs of customers and improve their quality of life, and based on this strategic direction, this advice was put forward to identify the opinions of the valued customers about a clearer system for disclosing cash amounts and what is in the possession of passengers arriving or departing to and from the UAE.
Decision:
The Authority believes that customers are one of the most prominent partners in decision-making and the development of processes and services, and therefore all comments and opinions contained in this advice will be taken into account when developing a more disclosed system to meet the desires and needs of valued customers.
Expected result:
The Authority will monitor all comments, observations and opinions received about the ‘Afsah’ system, and will study and analyze them by the team concerned with the system and make appropriate updates in light of the strategic objectives of the system and the laws and legislations that govern its work.
