The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation with its Uzbek counterpart in the field of customs operations and activities. His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, Acting Director General of the General Administration of Customs at the Authority, received His Excellency Akmalkhoja Mavlonov, Chairman of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in presence of His Excellency Abdulaziz Uralbayovich, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to the UAE, at the Administration’s Head Office in Dubai. The two sides also reviewed ways to enhance customs cooperation based on the joint administrative cooperation agreement in customs affairs signed in March 2019, and the measures to be taken to start signing mutual recognition for the approved economic operator programs between the two countries.
The two sides stressed the importance of the role of customs in supporting the economy and trade exchange between the two countries by working on developing and facilitating intra-regional movement and protecting the economy from illegal trade. The Uzbek side expressed its desire to benefit from the experience of the customs of the United Arab Emirates and to learn about the best customs practices in the UAE in order to apply them in Uzbekistan.
