H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, has stressed the importance of the strategic objectives that the Emirates Identity Authority is seeking to achieve through the successful implementation of the digital ID project, which is regarded as one of the most prominent strategic projects across the UAE.

This was announced during Al Khouri’s chairmanship of the regular meeting of the working team supervising the implementation of the digital ID project to discuss the progress of work in the project and be familiarized with the completion stages and the progress achieved as per the set timeline.

Al Khouri stressed the importance of meeting all the requirements of the Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) in a bid to upgrade the services provided through Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway while focusing on the services that need ID card to be completed.

Highlighting the importance of the Emirates Identity Authority’s role in catering for the different eGovernment initiatives and projects across the UAE and its contribution to enhancing the UAE security system, Al Khouri stressed the necessity of working with the departments responsible for the eGovernment’s projects and setting an executive program for providing the service of inking these entities with the electronic certification center at the Emirates Identity Authority.

Al Khouri called for speedy involvement of the largest number of UAE organizations in the project before the year-end while focusing on a number of strategic private sector partners in line with the UAE development aspirations.

He noted the importance of the successful applications of the project and their role in building and increasing the confidence of individuals during their electronic dealings with the government departments across the UAE. This would lead the use of eServices to increase in the UAE and the concept of the “secure electronic economy” to be consolidated, he said.

Meanwhile, the meeting reviewed the progress of work in the project of activating the digital ID applications including the work completed with some UAE organizations that would depend on the ID card for the provision of services to their customers, particularly the ADSCIC.

The meeting also reviewed the latest updates with respect to fulfilling the highest criteria observed in the data centers related to hosting the infrastructure of the digital ID applications project.
